The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is a specialist branch of the police responsible for investigating and solving serious crimes. CID officers, often known as detectives, focus on gathering information, analysing evidence, identifying suspects, and building strong cases that can be used in court.
CID deals with a wide range of investigations, including major crimes such as murder, robbery, fraud, organised crime, serious assaults, and other complex offences. Unlike regular police officers who may respond to incidents and handle immediate situations, CID detectives usually work on the deeper investigation side of crimes, finding out what happened, who was involved, and how the offence was carried out.
A major part of CID work involves collecting and examining evidence. Detectives may attend crime scenes, work with forensic specialists, review CCTV footage, analyse phone and digital records, gather witness statements, and use intelligence information to build a timeline of events. Every piece of evidence must be carefully recorded and checked to ensure investigations are accurate and reliable.
Expectations of a CID Member
CID officers are expected to act professionally at all times. They must be honest, reliable, respectful, and fair when dealing with victims, witnesses, suspects, colleagues, and the wider community. Maintaining integrity is essential because CID officers handle sensitive information and make decisions that can have a major impact on people’s lives.
A key expectation of CID is the ability to conduct thorough and detailed investigations. Officers must gather information, analyse evidence, interview individuals, and identify links between suspects, victims, and criminal activity. They are expected to approach every case carefully and avoid making assumptions before all evidence has been reviewed.
Joining CID
Members of CID are personally handpicked by CID Command or have undergone our recruitment stage . In order to be eligible to join CID, you must meet the following requirements:
Make an application, pass your interview and then your intake.
Utmost professionalism at all times both in and out of the game.
Showcase a high calibre of roleplay within the city
If an individual does not want to take CID seriously, they will not be within the division. If you want to go along with “it’s just a game”, then look towards joining another division. This is not the division for you.
